The Story . The Why.
A New Chapter.
To Be Eventful brought those pieces together.
I wanted to build an event company that could support more than one kind of meaningful moment — weddings and celebrations, nonprofit fundraisers and donor gatherings, celebrations of life, and community experiences that don't always fit neatly into a traditional event category.
Because while the reasons we gather may be different, the need underneath them is often the same:
Someone needs to hold the details so the people who matter can be present.
Today, To Be Eventful provides planning and event support throughout Greater Austin with an approach rooted in hospitality, thoughtful organization, flexibility, and care.
The Heart Behind the Events.
Hi, I’m Jessica McGarity, founder of To Be Eventful.
I love a good timeline, a well-organized plan, and the moment when all the moving pieces finally come together.
But those aren't the reason I do this work.
People are.
The best events aren't really about the event itself. They're about what the event creates space for — celebration, remembrance, generosity, connection, community, or simply being together.
My job is to take care of the planning and logistics so the people at the center of those moments can actually experience them.
Because you should get to be there, too.
Why I Do What I Do.
I've always been drawn to the moments that bring people together.
A wedding isn't just a beautiful day. It's the beginning of a marriage surrounded by people who helped get you there.
A fundraiser isn't just dinner, a program, and an auction. It's an opportunity for people to understand a mission, feel connected to it, and decide they want to be part of what happens next.
A celebration of life isn't simply an event to organize. It's a place to remember, grieve, laugh, tell stories, and honor a life together.
And community gatherings give us something we don't get enough of: opportunities to actually know one another.
The logistics matter because the moment matters.
That's what I want To Be Eventful to provide — thoughtful planning, calm execution, and enough support that you don't spend the entire event managing it.
How it started.
My journey into events began back in college, when I organized my first fundraiser for Restore Her in Bryan, Texas. That experience lit a spark. I saw firsthand how a thoughtfully planned event could bring people together around a purpose — inspiring generosity, connection, and change.
From there, I dove deeper into the event world and eventually followed another passion: food and hospitality. I attended Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, graduating in 2016.
I went on to work alongside local chefs and event companies throughout Austin, sharpening my eye for detail and learning to see an event from every angle — planning, styling, catering, coordination, and, most importantly, the guest experience.
Over the years, my work has continued to intersect with community and nonprofit organizations I deeply believe in, including Safe Families for Children – Austin, where I continue to serve as a partner and member of the Leadership Council.
Looking back, those experiences may have seemed like separate chapters at the time, but each taught me something that shapes how I approach events today.
Purpose matters. Hospitality matters. Details matter. And the people in the room matter most.
That's ultimately what led to To Be Eventful.
Beyond the Events.
To Be Eventful is one part of a much bigger collection of work, ideas, and things I care about.
Alongside events, I build business systems, teach practical life skills, create whimsical things, support families, and occasionally follow an idea just to see what it might become.
On paper, those things can look unrelated.
To me, they're connected.
To Be Eglaf is where I tell that bigger story — the philosophy behind the work, the projects I'm building, and the thread that connects them all.
If you're curious about what happens beyond the events, I'd love for you to see more.
